Rüdiger Schwarz studied Political Science as well as Economic and Social History/ Modern History at the Universität Mannheim, Johns-Hopkins University in Baltimore as well as at the associated School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington D.C, focusing on the subjects of Foreign Policy Analysis, Conflict Management and Africa.
Between 2005 and 2010 he was member of the steering committee of the Heidelberg Institute for International Conflict Research (HIIK) working on key African conflicts in Sudan, Uganda, Nigeria and Angola.
Since 2007 he has been working for the Walter-Hallstein Institut für Europäisches Verfassungsrecht (WHI) in various functions, among them as coordinator for the Research Training Group: Multilevel Constitutionalism. European Experience and Global Perspective. Since 2009 he has been conferred the responsibility for the Lecture Series Forum Constitutionis Europae.
