Michaela Wölk, M.A., holds a degree in Information Science and Economic Science of the Freie Universität Berlin. She has worked at IZT – Institute for Futures Studies and Technology Assessment since 2004 and between 1993 and 2000 and is head of department “Risk, Prevention, Health”. Between 2000 and 2004 she was project manager at Prognos AG in the department “media and communication”. Main foci of Michaela Wölk’s work are futures studies, innovation research and technology assessment. She has a long-standing experience with various scenario and technology assessment techniques, co-operating intensively with experts as well as consumer/citizens in this course.
At present, research projects regarding the technology assessment of location technologies and social media, technology acceptance and service engineering in the field of telecommunication services are the main foci of her research. The German Parliament, the Federal Ministry of Research, the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, and well-known industry associations and enterprises count among her clients. Michaela Wölk has published more than 30 books, journal articles and papers. She lectures at Freie Universität Berlin, Master in Future Studies, on how to integrate the needs and interests of societal stakeholders in futures studies (together with Britta Oertel)
